New: Transitioning to Practice in Ontario Learning Modules

We’re happy to share that our new Transitioning to Practice in Ontario Learning Modules are now available.

The College partnered with Zubin Austin to develop a series of six video-based learning modules focused on transitioning to practice as a physiotherapist in Ontario. The modules covers key topics including boundaries, consent, business practices and communication.

This learning series is ideal for internationally educated physiotherapists, PT students, PT residents, and experienced physiotherapists who are looking to expand or refresh their knowledge.

Blog: Preventing and Addressing Serious Boundary Violations

Although rare, egregious behaviour like serious boundary crossings and sexual abuse does happen in healthcare. These cases have devastating impacts for victims and can chip away at the trust regulators and health care providers work so hard to build.

In a new blog, we look at the ways that the College prevents and addresses boundary crossings and sexual abuse. We also explore ways that the profession can help, including recognizing red flags that you may encounter in practice, and creating a safe space for patients to bring concerns forward.

Last Chance to Share Feedback: New Standards and Code of Ethical Conduct

This is the last call to submit feedback on four proposed draft Standards and a Code of Ethical Conduct. The consultations close on Saturday, March 30.

The proposed Standards are:

  1. Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment
  2. Communication
  3. Duty of Care
  4. Risk Management and Safety

Case of the Month: Overstepping Boundaries

Physiotherapists must always maintain clear, professional boundaries in all aspects of their practice. This includes being respectful with patients and anyone else a PT may work with. But what happens when a physiotherapist regularly acts unprofessionally, crosses boundaries, and ignores clinic policies?

In a new Case of the Month, we’ll explore how a physiotherapist’s conduct can negatively impact both patients and colleagues.

Join CAPR's 2024 Standard Setting Panel

The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) is seeking physiotherapists with experience and knowledge of entry-level physiotherapy practice to join their Standard Setting panel for the Physiotherapy Competency Exam - Written .

CAPR is looking for individuals from the physiotherapy community all over Canada with diverse backgrounds and expertise.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 7.

2024 Council Elections: Voting Information

Thank you to everyone who nominated a physiotherapist to run in the election, and to all the candidates who confirmed their nomination.

Voting is now open for the elections in District 3 (Central Eastern), District 6 (Toronto West), District 7 (Toronto East), and the by-election in District 5 (Northern).

Voting is easy! If your district is up for election, please check your email for a link to vote. Voting
closes on April 17 at 2 p.m.

Final Reminder: Annual Renewal and PISA Deadline is March 31

Annual Renewal 2024

Time is running out! The deadline to complete Annual Renewal is just 10 days away.

All physiotherapists in Independent Practice must complete annual renewal and pay the registration fee of $648 by 11:59 p.m. on March 31 to avoid paying the additional late fee of $254. Why pay a total of $902 if you don't have to?

PISA 2024


All PTs in both Provisional and Independent Practice must complete PISA by March 31. That's only 10 days away.

PISA is a short, mandatory multiple-choice exercise that is not scored - you just need to complete it! PTs who don't complete PISA by the deadline will be referred to the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.
