Comprehensive Legislation introduced

The Ontario government announced December 12 that it is introducing new legislation of importance to the College and the practice of physiotherapists. Proposed changes to various existing laws include the amendment of the Regulated Health Professions Act to:

  • increase the transparency of colleges,
  • promote interprofessional practice and team-based care, and
  • improve Health Human Resource data collection to assist in planning.

The government has also proposed the establishment of a new college to regulate kinesiology.

The College was an active participant in the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC), and contributed to the debate and the development of these policy initiatives.
