Registration Application Checklist for Internationally Educated Physiotherapists


Complete this checklist and find out if you are ready to apply for registration as a physiotherapist in Ontario.

1.  Do you speak fluent English or French?

      Yes
      No 

IF NO:

If your physiotherapy education was not in English or French, proof of language fluency is required. You may show proof of language fluency using a language test approved by the Alliance. Go to Language Requirements.      

2.  Are you a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or do you have a valid work permit?

   Yes
   No

IF NO:

To find out more about coming to Canada, contact Immigration Canada.
Search for: Immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker or Working temporarily in Canada.  

3.  Has the Alliance accepted your educational credentials as substantially equivalent to those of Canadian-educated physiotherapists?

   Yes 
   No

IF NO:

Your education credentials must be evaluated by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators. Go to the Alliance website and download the Educational Credential Assessment for Physiotherapists Educated Outside of Canada to begin this process.        

4.  Have you registered for the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE)?

   Yes

   No

IF NO:

Go to the Alliance website to download an application form for the Physiotherapy Competency Exam.         

5.  Have you passed the written component of the PCE and registered for the next available clinical exam?

   Yes

   No

IF NO:

Go to the Alliance website to download an application form for the  Physiotherapy Competency Exam.
