Business Practices

The College recognizes that the practice environment continues to change and evolve. In recent years there has been a rapid transition in practice setting from public to private sector, so that there are now equal numbers of physiotherapists practicing in each setting. In addition, within the private sector, practice settings are varied and diverse (e.g. long-term care, home care, industry, and retail, as well as the traditional, private outpatient clinic). The private practice environment is competitive and physiotherapists want to advertise their business, be competitive with respect to pricing, and market their services to patients and referral sources. Not only do physiotherapists want to engage in these practices, they want to do so professionally and appropriately. More and more calls to the College are asking for assistance in this area.
