Fair Registration Practices

The College takes its role in entry to practice very seriously and has adopted the principles of fairness, transparency, objectivity and impartiality to guide its work.

The College has obligations to maintain fair registration practices under the Regulated Health Professions Act. These obligations to the Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) include submission of an annual Fair Registration Practices report, to undergo fair practices audits as required by the OFC and to complete registration reviews (either voluntarily or as directed by the OFC).

The following documents are available for review:

Registration Practices Assessment Report  2011
Study of Registration Practices of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, 2007
Fair Registration Practices Report 2008
Audit Report, January 2009
Fair Registration Practices Report 2009
Fair Registration Practices Report 2010
Entry to Practice Review 2010

In November 2007, the College completed a year-long self-audit process based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard 17024 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Schemes for Persons. While pleased with the results of the self-audit, the College continues to strive for excellence and a number of recommendations for continuous quality improvement arose from this work.
