Building a Professional Portfolio

The first component of the Quality Management Framework - Practice Reflection, requires all physiotherapists/physical therapists to maintain a professional portfolio. The purpose of the portfolio is to promote reflective practice and to demonstrate self-assessment and professional accountability. A portfolio is a showcase of professional achievements and a demonstration of an ongoing commitment to competence.

The mandatory components of a professional portfolio are:

  • Evidence of learning activities: please provide documented evidence that you have completed a learning cycle and are active in your professional development activities, and
  • A completed copy of the most recently released Professional Issues Self Assessment (PISA)
The College listened to the feedback from physiotherapists/physical therapists who requested a more interactive format for the PISA (Professional Issues Self Assessment).  The College hired a third party host, Claymore Inc.,  to create an electronic version of the PISA with personal electronic portals for each member.  This ensures learning activity is kept private and not viewed by the College.

The 20 questions are provided in a multiple choice, true or false format. The PISA questionnaire is designed to make learning more convenient and a little more fun.

Professional Issues Self Assessment (PISA) Interactive Portal

This mandatory component of the professional portfolio is designed to help physiotherapists/physical therapists  assess their knowledge of College documents, legislation and information relevant to professional practice.

Registrants are required to review and reflect upon the professional issues listed in this self-assessment tool on an annual basis.
