Quality Management

Welcome to the Quality Management section of the web site. In this section information is provided in order to increase understanding of why the College has developed and implemented a Quality Management Program.

As part of its mandate to protect the public interest, the College is required to:
  • establish and maintain programs and standards of practice to assure quality practice, and
  • develop, establish and maintain standards of knowledge and skill (competence) and programs to promote continuing competence.
New knowledge and evidence require that physiotherapists continually adapt their practice to maintain competence throughout their career. Competence is used by the College – and the profession at large – to describe the particular knowledge, skills, judgment and attitudes demonstrated by qualified physiotherapists. With this in mind, the aim of the Quality Management program is to foster an environment that supports physiotherapists in reflective practice and setting goals toward life-long learning while providing the opportunity to demonstrate competence and meet the College mandate.

The Quality Management Program consists of three components. A description of each of the three components of the Quality Management Program is given using the links provided:

Practice Reflection
Practice Assessment
Practice Enhancement

Ongoing evaluation of the QM program means that various components and measurement tools may change as the Team finds new and better ways to promote and assess competence.
