On February 1, 2012, online registration for the new authorized activity rosters will be available.
All physiotherapists/physical therapists in Ontario who intend to perform authorized activities independently from this date onward must add their names to the list for each activity they plan to perform. Each of the authorized activities will have its own list or roster.
The only exception is communicating a diagnosis. This authorized activity does not require you to roster as it is considered an essential competency.
However, all other authorized activities will require rostering. These include tracheal suctioning, spinal manipulation, acupuncture, treating a wound below the dermis, assessing or rehabilitating pelvic musculature and administering a substance by inhalation. These rosters will be available online as of February 1, 2012.
Authorized activities related to diagnostics, such as ordering prescribed forms of energy, x-ray investigations and specified laboratory tests are not yet in effect as they are awaiting government approval of related regulations. The College will let you know when they have been approved and rostering is available for these activities.

The Roster Assessment Model – What You Need to Know
The College is in the process of developing a model to assess competency of registrants who have rostered for authorized activities. This model will likely be introduced in the fall of 2012.
The quality management roster assessment process will randomly select individuals who must then verify the information they declared when they rostered regarding their competency and education, and complete an assessment of their performance of activities against the standard for each authorized activity. Reports of assessment outcomes will be issued annually.
