Changes to the Way Social Assistance Clients Access Coverage for Physiotherapy Services

The Paperless Drug Card Initiative as of December 1, 2016

The Ministry of Community and Social Services is streamlining how it provides service and as of December 1, 2016, most social assistance clients will NOT RECEIVE A PAPER CARD to access coverage.

Please be aware publicly-funded physiotherapy clinics should accept other forms of proof of eligibility, such as a client’s monthly Statement of Assistance.

If a Statement of Assistance is not available, the Clinic should call the Social Assistance Verification Helpline at 1-888-284-3928.

The exception to this new paperless drug initiative are clients not eligible for an Ontario health card and some client served by the First Nations Ontario Works Administrators. Learn more by referring to the additional resources below.
