Steps for applying For An Independent Practice Certificate
for provisional practice certificate holders

For anyone applying who currently holds an active Provisional Practice Certificate, and have successfully completed the clinical component of the Physiotherapy Competency Exam and received your results from the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR).

Step 1


After you successfully complete the clinical component of the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE) and receive your results from the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) you can apply for your Independent Practice Certificate.

Step 2


  • Visit the Online Member Portal. Click on Apply for Registration at the top of the webpage.
  • Attach all required documents including your email from the The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) having successfully completed the clinical component of the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE).

Within 5 business days of receiving an application the College will send you an email to let you know that your application has been reviewed and whether or not it is complete. An application is complete when all information, payment and documents (including Letters of Professional Standing if applicable) have been received.

A $100 fee is charged to review the application.

Step 4


Once your application is considered complete, we begin the process of reviewing whether it meets the registration requirements. This process takes up to 10 business days.

Step 5


If you have met the College’s requirements your pro-rated registration fee will be charged. You will receive an email confirming this.

If you have not met the College’s requirements your application will be referred to the Registration Committee. This process can take approximately 8-10 weeks. The Registration team will contact you to advise you on the next steps.
