New IPC Privacy Fact Sheet – Protect Against Phishing

If you have an email account you most likely receive some unsolicited emails known as spam. Some of these messages are actually phishing attempts where the goal is to get the recipient to do something that compromises the security of their personal information. 

Some phishing emails are highly sophisticated and employees can easily be tricked into opening an infected attachment, clicking on a suspicious link or disclosing sensitive information to hackers. 

When healthcare organizations fall for a phishing attack, it puts the security and privacy of all records under their control at direct risk. The consequences of a data breach can be substantial so the Information and Privacy Commissioner has developed a new fact sheet called Protect Against Phishing
