Government-Funded (OHIP) Physiotherapy

Still have questions about government-funded physiotherapy?

Get in touch with the College's Practice Advisor:

Do You Qualify for Government-funded Physiotherapy? How Do I Find an OHIP Clinic?

OHIP covers physiotherapy for seniors, youth and some other patients at government-funded (OHIP) physiotherapy clinics to help patients recover from illness, surgery or injury.

To be eligible, you must have a doctor’s referral and:

  • be 19 years old or younger
  • be 65 years old or older
  • be receiving benefits under the Ontario Disability Support Program or Family Works

If you are not in one of these groups, but you have stayed overnight in a hospital for a problem that now requires physiotherapy treatment, you are also eligible for government-funded physiotherapy with a doctor's referral.

There are a limited number of physiotherapy clinics across the province.
