Does OHIP cover physiotherapy? Do I qualify for OHIP covered physiotherapy?

OHIP physiotherapy covers physiotherapy for seniors, youth and some other patients at government-funded physiotherapy clinics to help patients recover from illness, surgery or injury.

To be eligible, you must have a doctor’s referral and:

  • be 19 years old or younger
  • be 65 years old or older
  • be receiving benefits under the Ontario Disability Support Program or Family Works

If you are not in one of these groups, but you have stayed overnight in a hospital for a problem that now requires physiotherapy treatment, you are also eligible for OHIP covered physiotherapy with a doctor's referral.

There are a limited number of OHIP physiotherapy clinics across the province.
