Physiotherapy Competency Exam Update: September 9, 2021
Yesterday, the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario was deeply disappointed to learn about the challenges with the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) clinical exam. While some candidates completed the exam successfully, others experienced challenges that either delayed their completion or forced them to reschedule.
We know candidates and the entire physiotherapy community are frustrated and disheartened by the ongoing challenges. We share in your frustration, and we are doing what we can to address these issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We are actively engaged in conversations with CAPR and the Ontario Physiotherapy Association to discuss next steps. We appreciate that everyone wants and deserves answers. We are exploring all possible options within the parameters of the current legislation, with the shared goal of registering candidates as quickly as possible.
The next clinical exam is scheduled for Saturday, September 11. We are closely monitoring the additional preparation for this exam and will carefully consider the outcomes. Our expectation is that CAPR will address the issues and every candidate scheduled for Saturday will successfully complete the exam.
We are committed to providing an update on Monday, September 13 and will provide further details concerning next steps at that time.
