Annual Renewal

Anyone with an Independent Practice Certificate will be required to renew between February 1 and March 31, 2024 to maintain their registration. The fee this year will be $648.

Individuals with Provisional Practice Certificates do NOT complete annual renewal.

Renewal Process 

As a registered PT, you must complete a renewal process each year. You will be asked to review all of your information and update anything that has changed, correct anything that is wrong, and add information that is new. Note: Some of this information appears on the Public Register or is required by law to be shared with the government.

You will also pay your annual registration fee of $648. You must complete annual renewal and pay the registration fee before 11:59 p.m. on March 31 each year to avoid paying an additional late fee of $254.

Renewal is Only Available Online 

Annual Renewal is only available online. We encourage you to complete renewal using a desktop or laptop computer for best results. Other devices may be used, but you may experience difficulties.   

Payment Options

We only accept Visa, Mastercard or Interac Online (First Nations Bank of Canada or TD Canada Trust). We do not accept cheques, money orders or cash. 

Resigning Your Registration? 

If you are not planning to practice physiotherapy or use the title of physiotherapist in Ontario, you may choose to resign from the College, rather than renew. If you wish to resign, please submit a resignation notice. Go into the PT Portal, click SIGN IN and look for Submit a Resignation Notice under Profile. Your resignation must be received before March 31 at 11:59 pm.

Optional Information

Physiotherapists will have the option of including additional information during renewal. You do not need to complete this part of renewal, if you choose not to. 

This information supports data collection for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). The data elements are set by CIHI to capture an accurate picture of Canada’s health systems and used to identify and accelerate improvements.

Optional data categories include:

  • Gender
  • Sex at birth
  • Indigenous identity
  • Race-based data

This information will not appear on the Public Register.

Our EDI Work

Further, the College will use this data to help inform our equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy and initiatives, as outlined in our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. We will use this data to monitor and evaluate potential discrimination in all areas of our business, from entry to practice and licensure, to quality assurance, and investigations and hearings.

This will help us identify and remove systemic barriers and foster more inclusive practices. We will use this information to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and growth, such as representation on Council and Committees that is more reflective of the profession and community.
